High above the picturesque Altmuehl valley lies Schloss Eggersberg. Situated in peaceful woodlands, a truly special hotel with an impressive atmosphere awaits you. Cultural activities are well served here - the "Hofmarkmuseum" has many items and curiosities on show, while in the local area, visitors can find tennis, golf, boat rides, fishing and cycling (over 120km of paths!), as well as cross country skiing during the winter.

History

Built around 1600 during the heyday of the late renaissance period, the castle is situated next to the site of original Burg Eggersberg which was destroyed in the 15th century during the Löwler War. After the castle was acquired by the Jurist Dominicus von Bassus in 1684, it stayed in the family for over 250 years and served as a hunting lodge.
